15 Claude Prompts for Business: Strategy, Ops & Decisions (2026)

Most people use Claude to write. That's fine, but it undersells what it's actually best at. Claude's long context window and reasoning make it the strongest AI model for business thinking: strategy, analysis, decisions, and the operational judgment that usually lives only in your head.

I run multiple businesses and Claude is my default for the hard stuff, pressure-testing an offer, modeling a decision, turning chaos into a system. These are 15 of the prompts I actually use. They're built to make Claude your strategist and operator, not your ghostwriter (for that, see my Claude prompts for content creation).

One tip before you start: these work far better when you give Claude your real business. Paste your actual offer, numbers, notes, or customer feedback into the brackets. Claude's edge is holding all of it at once, so feed it the context and it stops guessing.

Strategy & clarity

1. Pressure-test your offer

"Act as a skeptical investor and a skeptical customer, in turn. Here is my offer: [paste it]. First, as the investor, tell me why this might not be a real business. Then, as the customer, tell me why I might not buy. Be specific and unsentimental. End with the 3 changes that would most improve it."

Why it works: Claude holds two adversarial roles well, which surfaces the weaknesses you're too close to see.

2. Competitor teardown

"Here are my top 3 competitors: [names/links or descriptions]. Compare them to my business [describe it] across positioning, pricing, target customer, and messaging. Show it as a table, then tell me the single gap in the market none of us are serving well."

3. Find what I'm missing

"Here is my current business plan / strategy: [paste]. Play the role of an experienced operator reviewing it. List the assumptions I'm making that I haven't validated, the risks I've underweighted, and the one question I should be able to answer but probably can't."

4. Sharpen my positioning

"My business helps [who] achieve [what]. Here's how I currently describe it: [paste]. Rewrite my positioning three ways: one that leads with the outcome, one that leads with the problem, and one that leads with what makes me different. Then recommend which fits a [describe audience] best and why."

Decisions & analysis

5. The decision framework

"I'm deciding whether to [decision]. Here's the context: [paste the situation, constraints, and what I'm worried about]. Walk me through it: the real options (including ones I haven't named), the key tradeoffs, what I'd need to believe for each to be right, and your recommendation with the reasoning. Flag where you're uncertain."

Why it works: this turns Claude into a thinking partner instead of a yes-machine. The "flag where you're uncertain" line keeps it honest.

6. Model a pricing change

"My current pricing is [details] and I'm considering [change]. Walk through the likely effects on revenue, conversion, positioning, and customer perception. Model a rough best-case, expected, and worst-case, and tell me what I'd want to test before committing."

7. Prioritize with limited time

"Here's everything on my plate this quarter: [list]. My main goal is [goal] and I realistically have [time/resources]. Rank these by impact-to-effort, tell me what to cut entirely, and give me the one thing that, if I only did it, would move the needle most."

8. Synthesize messy customer feedback

"Here is a pile of customer feedback: [paste reviews, survey answers, support messages]. Find the recurring themes, separate what people say from what they actually want, and rank the top 3 problems worth solving by how often they appear and how painful they sound."

Operations & systems

9. Turn a task into an SOP

"Here's a task I do repeatedly: [describe it, messily is fine]. Turn it into a clear standard operating procedure someone else could follow: numbered steps, tools needed, common mistakes to avoid, and what 'done well' looks like. Write it so a new hire could run it without me."

10. Meeting notes into action

"Here are my raw notes from a meeting: [paste]. Pull out every decision made, every action item (with who owns it if stated), and every open question. Then draft a 4-line follow-up message I can send to summarize and confirm next steps."

11. Find the bottleneck

"Here's how a process currently runs in my business: [describe the steps]. Act as an operations consultant. Identify where time, handoffs, or rework are being lost, and propose the two changes that would remove the most friction with the least disruption."

12. Build a delegation plan

"Here's a list of everything I do in a typical week: [list]. Sort it into: only-I-can-do-this, could-train-someone, could-automate, and shouldn't-be-done-at-all. For the trainable ones, note what I'd need to hand off cleanly."

13. Define your ideal customer

"Based on my business [describe it] and my best current customers [describe them], build a detailed profile of my ideal customer: their situation, the problem in their words, what they've already tried, what makes them finally buy, and where they can be reached. Be concrete, not generic."

14. Diagnose churn or slow growth

"My business is [describe] and I'm seeing [the problem: churn, flat growth, low conversion]. Here's the relevant context: [paste data or describe]. Walk through the most likely causes in order of probability, how I'd confirm each, and the cheapest test for the top one."

15. The weekly business review

"Act as my strategic advisor for a weekly review. Here's what happened this week: [wins, problems, numbers, decisions]. Ask me the 3 questions a sharp advisor would ask, point out anything I'm avoiding, and help me set the one priority for next week."

Make these Claude prompts even better

Two upgrades take these from good to genuinely useful:

  • Give Claude your context first. Paste your real offer, numbers, and notes. Its long context window means it can hold your whole business at once, that's its advantage over guessing from a one-line prompt.
  • Let it push back. Add "challenge my thinking, don't just agree" to any of these. Claude is good at respectful disagreement, and that's exactly what you want from a strategist.
