Airbnb Title Ideas: 60 Examples Under 50 Characters (and Where Guests See Them)

Most Airbnb title advice was written for a search page that no longer exists in the US. Airbnb's September 30, 2026 update added AI-written descriptions to US search results (Airbnb newsroom), and in live US searches on October 22, 2026, not one card showed the host's title. Your title still heads your listing page, still sits on cards on the non-US Airbnb sites we checked, and may feed Airbnb's AI.

Below: where it shows now (measured), Airbnb's rules, 60 original title ideas, a formula and an AI prompt. I run AI Hustle Guy, I've worked with Airbnb and Vrbo hosts, and this guide is part of my AI for Airbnb hosts hub.

The short answer (verified October 2026): A good Airbnb title names the one feature guests book you for, adds a detail that proves it, and fits in 50 characters. Put the reason to book in the first 30 characters, write in sentence case, and leave out emojis, symbols, your town, your bed count and the word "new".

Five facts to know (October 2026):

  • Airbnb's title limit is 50 characters (Airbnb Resource Center); count spaces too.
  • Since the September 30, 2026 update, Airbnb's US search cards show an AI-written line, not your title.
  • The UK, Canadian, Australian and Irish Airbnb sites we checked still showed titles on cards, cut to one line.
  • Those cards cut every 50-character title we measured, and nearly all showed the first 30 characters.
  • A title change can take up to an hour to appear (Airbnb Help).

Three panels: an Airbnb US search card showing the home type, town and an Airbnb-written line; a UK search card showing the host's title cut to one line; and a phone listing page with the full title as the headline under the first photo

US search: Airbnb writes the line now

Airbnb says search results now include AI-powered descriptions of a home's key features, starting in the US, and a note above the results reads "Descriptions are based on details hosts provide." On the first pages of two US searches (40 listings in a Tennessee cabin market and a Florida beach town), no card showed the host's title. Each showed "Cabin in [town]" or similar, the rating, then Airbnb's line of one to three features.

The guest's site decides this, not the listing's location: the Florida search on airbnb.co.uk showed hosts' titles, and an English city on airbnb.com showed Airbnb's lines.

For US guests, the tap is won by your cover photo, price, rating and Airbnb's line, and the cover is the part you choose directly (how to pick an Airbnb cover photo). Airbnb doesn't say which details its AI reads, so make them agree: if your title says hot tub, your amenities and photos should show one (Airbnb's 2026 AI changes for hosts).

Outside the US: your title, cut to one line

On the UK, Canadian, Australian and Irish sites, the line under the home type was the host's own title on all 20 cards we checked on each site, cut to one line. How much fit in the main results grid on airbnb.co.uk:

Screen (browser window width)Characters on the card lineMedian
Desktop, 1440 px, map open32 to 4339
Desktop, 1280 px39 to 4743
Phone, 390 px (iPhone size)41 to 4744
Phone, 360 px (small Android)34 to 4341
  • Every 50-character title was cut, at every width (19 of 19). No title of 32 characters or fewer was.
  • Nearly every card showed at least the first 30 characters.
  • One title glued its phrases together with bullets and no spaces. The card treated it as one long word and cut it after 16 characters (left out of the table).

Airbnb's own example agrees: its 49-character cabin title may show as just its first 28 characters in search (Airbnb Resource Center).

On your listing page: the headline

Every guest who taps through sees your title, above the photo grid on desktop and under the first photo on a phone. In our check, a 49-character title fit on one line on a 1440 px desktop and wrapped, uncut, to two lines on a 390 px phone. Its main job now is to confirm the tap, so name what the photo showed; your first five photos and description opening carry on from there.

How we checked

  • Cards (October 22, 2026, logged out, Chrome, no filters or dates): first-page airbnb.com results for Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Destin, Florida, matched against each listing's own title in the page data, plus Bath, England on airbnb.com and airbnb.co.uk, and the Destin search on airbnb.co.uk, .ca, .com.au and .ie. Re-running every search on October 23 gave the same result.
  • Cuts: two airbnb.co.uk searches at four window widths, 122 cards in the main grid (six narrower cards outside it were left out; one cut a title at 28 characters). An October 23 repeat (144 cards) gave medians of 40 to 43, with one card cutting a long title at 28.
  • Limits: a handful of markets, website only (not the app). Airbnb tests layouts and is rolling out AI features, so check your own listing. We don't publish real hosts' titles.

If you've never seen your card the way guests see it, start there.

Airbnb's title rules in 2026

What Airbnb's Resource Center and Help Center say as of October 2026:

RuleWhat Airbnb saysSource
LengthUp to 50 characters. Aim for fewer than 50, most important information first, because longer titles are shortened in search results to fit smaller screens.Oct 2025; Feb 2026
CapitalsCapitalize only the first word, proper names (such as a neighborhood or landmark) and abbreviations such as a country or airport code. No all caps.Feb 2026; Oct 2026
Emojis and symbolsDon't use them. A special character such as ! or # is fine once, not repeated for emphasis. Separate ideas with commas or a single slash.Help; Feb 2026
What to leave outYour city or town, total bed count, and whether the listing is new. Airbnb shows these already.Feb 2026; Oct 2025
What to addA location detail (a neighborhood or landmark) or a key amenity.Feb 2026; Oct 2026
AccuracyNothing misleading; listing content has to describe the home accurately.Help; ground rules
Contact details and linksKeep messages before booking on Airbnb. No links that take guests off the platform, and no ads for another business.Payments policy; Content Policy
ChangesEdit any time. Changes can take up to an hour to appear.Help

The February 2026 guidelines still say longer titles are shortened in search results. That's true on the non-US sites we checked; on the US site, the card shows Airbnb's line instead.

Where "32 characters" came from

Airbnb's June 2022 guidelines said a 32-character limit would help a title display in full on desktop and mobile, and archived copies show that advice until at least September 2025 (archived copy). The February 2026 rewrite replaced it with fewer than 50.

That's why 32 still turns up in older guides, free title generators and AI answers. The limit is 50; about 30 characters is what nearly every cutting card still shows.

How to write an Airbnb title: feature, proof, fit

Good Airbnb titles do two or three of these jobs:

  1. Feature: the one thing guests book you for, such as a view, a hot tub, a dock or a fenced yard.
  2. Proof: a detail that makes it believable, such as a number (30 steps to the sand), a named place or a concrete object (a wood-fired sauna, not great amenities).
  3. Fit: who it suits, such as couples, two families, dog owners or a month of remote work.
  • Hot tub cabin facing the Blue Ridge (35 characters): feature, then proof.
  • Two families, two living rooms, one heated pool (47): fit, then proof, then feature.
  • Blackout bedroom, 5 min walk to the hospital (44): feature and proof, aimed at shift workers.

The feature, proof, fit formula: three example titles with the feature, the proof and the fit each highlighted in its own color

The 30/50 rule

Put the reason to book in the first 30 characters, and stop at 50. Nearly every non-US card we measured showed at least 30 characters, and the listing page shows the whole title.

A 50-character example title on a ruler: nearly every card in our test showed at least the first 30 characters, cards cut titles between about 32 and 47 characters depending on screen width, and 50 is Airbnb's limit

Measured on airbnb.co.uk search cards at four screen widths, October 22, 2026. The example title is made up.

Don't go very short to dodge the cut. In a study of 70,529 US two-bedroom listings, IntelliHost found titles of 1 to 20 characters sat about 7% below their ZIP code's median nightly rate (IntelliHost). That's a correlation, not proof, but very short titles usually say too little.

How to pick your hero feature

  1. Your cover photo. Name what it shows; guests just tapped it.
  2. Your reviews. What guests keep praising is your strongest proof.
  3. Your neighbors. See what nearby listings lead with (in the US, open them), then lead with what they lack.
  4. Airbnb's most-searched amenities: Wifi, pool, hot tub, kitchen, TV or cable, air conditioning, washer and dryer, free parking and self check-in (Airbnb Resource Center). List your hero in your amenities too, because guests filter by them.

60 Airbnb title ideas by property type

Catchy is nice, but the best Airbnb titles are specific. Every title below is original (none is copied from a real listing), in sentence case, 50 characters or fewer counted with spaces, and free of towns, bed counts and "new". Swap in your real features, and never claim one your listing doesn't have.

Airbnb title mistakes to avoid

  1. Repeating what Airbnb shows. Your home type, town, bedrooms and beds are already on the card or page, and listings without ratings show "New".
  2. Emojis and decorative symbols. Airbnb's Help Center asks for none (Airbnb Help), and its guidelines say they can make a title inaccessible to some guests. Use commas or a single slash to separate ideas. Bullets with no spaces (pool•spa•views) are worse: in our test, they cut a 50-character title after 16 characters.
  3. All caps or Capitals On Every Word. Airbnb asks for sentence case and no all caps (Airbnb Resource Center).
  4. Filler words. Cozy, charming, amazing, oasis, gem. Not banned (Airbnb's own October 2026 example starts with "Cozy"), but a feature does more work in the same space.
  5. An amenity list instead of a hero. On a card that cuts the line, the last items disappear.
  6. Claims your listing can't back up. Airbnb's ground rules require listing content to describe the home accurately (Airbnb Help), and an oversold view shows up in reviews (why guests say "not as described").
  7. Contact details, links or "book direct". Airbnb keeps communication on the platform until a booking and bans links that take guests off it (Airbnb Help).
  8. Abbreviations guests won't decode. w/, mtn and BR cost clarity. Well-known codes are fine: "near LAX" works.
  9. Expecting the title to fix your ranking. See the box below.

What page one looks like (October 22, 2026)

Across the 40 listings on the first pages of our two US searches, the median title was 49 characters long and 15 used exactly 50. Of the 40, 36 used capitals on most words, 17 used pipes, bullets, stars or similar symbols, 5 included "New", and none used emoji.

Plenty of page-one listings break Airbnb's style guide, which fits Airbnb's account of ranking: quality, popularity, price and location, with no mention of title wording (Airbnb Help). An October 2026 test by AirROI across 30 US markets also found no consistent lift from 15 common title words (AirROI). So follow Airbnb's rules because they make your title easier to read, not to move your rank.

Not booking at all? The title is unlikely to be the main cause on its own; start with why your Airbnb isn't getting booked, or views but no bookings if people visit and leave.

Write Airbnb titles with ChatGPT or Claude

AI produces ten options fast, but left alone it writes generic titles, adds emojis and invents amenities. This stricter version of prompt 1 in my AI prompts for Airbnb hosts builds in Airbnb's 2026 rules and gives the model only your facts.

Write 10 Airbnb listing titles for my place.

Rules (Airbnb's title guidance as of October 2026):
- 50 characters or fewer, counting spaces. Put the main reason to book in the first 30 characters.
- Sentence case: capitalize only the first word and proper names.
- No emojis, no symbols such as stars, bullets or pipes, no repeated punctuation, no ALL CAPS.
- Leave out my town, my bed or bedroom count, and the word "new". Airbnb shows those already.
- Use only the facts below. Do not add amenities, views, distances or awards I didn't list.
- No phone numbers, websites, social handles or "book direct".
- Avoid filler words: cozy, charming, amazing, perfect, oasis, paradise, gem.

My listing:
- Type of place: [cabin, condo, private room...]
- Best features, most important first: [1. ... 2. ... 3. ...]
- Location details worth naming: [landmark, neighborhood, walking or driving times]
- What guests praise in reviews: [3 to 5 short phrases]
- Who books it most: [couples, families, remote workers, dog owners...]
- Titles nearby listings use (optional): [paste 3 to 5]

Give each title a different angle: a view, an amenity, the location, the guest it suits, the experience.
Output a table: title | character count including spaces | angle in 3 to 5 words.
Then pick the 3 best for a guest scrolling on a phone and explain each pick in one sentence.

Follow-ups worth running:

  • "Shorten your top 3 to 35 characters or fewer without losing the main feature." Useful if many guests book through Airbnb's non-US sites, where cards cut long titles.
  • "Here are my description and amenities list. Flag anything in these titles that they don't support."

Then count the characters yourself, since models miscount and spaces count too: in Google Sheets, =LEN(A1) gives the exact number. Any of the big models handles this prompt (ChatGPT vs Claude vs Gemini), and my best Airbnb tools for hosts covers software that tracks where your listing ranks.

A prompt only knows what you tell it. The full Airbnb listing audit starts from your live listing: it writes three new titles within the 50-character limit, each with a different angle and each claiming only features your listing has, and compares your title with the listings around yours and Airbnb's summaries of them.

What AI assistants get wrong about Airbnb titles (checked October 22, 2026)

  • Old rules. Google's AI Mode told hosts to "use your 32 characters" (Airbnb's old advice) and offered sample titles with emoji, which Airbnb asks hosts not to use.
  • Titles in search results. The answers we saw assumed every guest sees your title on the search card. On Airbnb's US site, the card now shows Airbnb's own line instead.

AI is still useful for drafting. What it can't do is see your listing, your cover photo or the homes around yours.

How to change your Airbnb title and check it worked

On desktop, per Airbnb's Help Center (Airbnb Help): click Listings and select the listing, then under Listing editor click Your space, click Title, make your changes and click Save. The same article covers the iOS and Android apps and mobile browsers, and changes can take up to an hour to show.

To see whether it helped, open Insights, then Performance, then Conversion (with Airbnb's professional hosting tools turned on). Airbnb splits conversion into first-page search impressions, search-to-listing conversion and listing-to-booking conversion (Airbnb Help).

For US guests your title works after the tap, so watch listing-to-booking conversion. Change one thing at a time and give it a few weeks, since seasons and prices move these numbers too.

FAQ

What is the character limit for an Airbnb title?

Up to 50 characters, and Airbnb's February 2026 guidance says to aim for fewer than 50 with the most important words first. Count spaces too. On the non-US Airbnb sites we checked in October 2026, cards cut every 50-character title but nearly always showed the first 30 characters.

Is the Airbnb title limit 32 or 50 characters?

It's 50. The 32 figure comes from Airbnb's older guidelines, which said 32 characters or fewer would show in full on desktop and mobile, advice that archived copies show until at least September 2025. The current version, dated February 2, 2026, says to aim for fewer than 50.

Does my Airbnb title show in search results?

Not on Airbnb's US site, as of October 2026. Since the September 30, 2026 update, US search cards show the home type, town and an AI-written line based on details hosts provide. On the UK, Canadian, Australian and Irish sites we checked (website only), cards still showed the host's title on one line.

Can I use emojis in my Airbnb title?

No. Airbnb's Help Center asks hosts not to use symbols or emojis in titles, and its guidelines say they can confuse guests and make titles inaccessible to some of them. A special character such as an exclamation mark is fine once, but not repeated, and commas or a single slash can separate ideas.

Should I put my city in my Airbnb title?

No. Airbnb already shows your town and home type on search cards and listing pages, so repeating them wastes characters. Its guidance suggests a more useful location detail, such as a neighborhood or landmark, or a key amenity; a walking time to a well-known spot tells guests more than a city name.

Do keywords in my Airbnb title help my ranking?

There's no good evidence they do. Airbnb's help article on search ranking names quality, popularity, price and location, not title keywords, and an October 2026 AirROI test across 30 US markets found no consistent lift from 15 common title words. Write for guests: a clear title can help indirectly if more of them book.

How often should I change my Airbnb title?

Change it when something real changes: a new amenity, a season that shifts your main draw, or a feature guests keep praising. Airbnb says you can edit it any time and changes can take up to an hour to appear. Change one thing at a time, then compare your Insights conversion numbers after a few weeks.

Is there a free Airbnb title generator?

Several exist, but check their output against Airbnb's rules, because some still aim for 32 characters. A free alternative is ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini with the prompt in this guide, which builds in the 50-character limit and bans invented features. Either way, count the characters yourself.
